Little Yogi-Bear and Peggy-Sue were found as tiny kittens in a garage in Hyde Park in the spring of 2008. They were among a litter of 5. They were unique in that both had only three full legs; the fourth on each was missing an ankle and a foot. They were very rambunctious little ones and thrived in foster care. Our task to find them a home together was pushing the issue as both were special needs – however, we wanted to keep them together so they could share everything on the same level.
Along came Mike and Nicole who were looking for a pair of kittens to call their own. They came to visit them in foster care along with many others available for adoption.
They went home a few weeks later.
They were renamed Arbiter and Cortana. Now a year and a half later, they are almost full grown.
Recently, Arbiter had a "stumputation". His stump had been a literal sore spot for him since he was adopted. His vet, Dr. Chris Ulrich, suggested surgery to remove more of his stump. Now his leg ends up above his knee and just below the hip. Everything went very well, he is recovered now, and Cortana has welcomed him back as her partner in crime.
