"Joey" and "Danny" were found as 3 month old kittens in Somerville with a feral mom. They were living behind a shed. Their personality and looks enthralled me so I knew I had to work with them. They were in a horrible place and really could not be returned. So over the next month I socialized them. When Chris came along, they wanted russian blue type kitties and were HAPPY to work with them more. It was a perfect combination!

Chris' note:

Bugs and Chilly, beautiful little Russian Blue brothers, were rescued from a life in an abandoned lot by Charles River Alleycats. The Boys were around 3 months old when we first met them, small and wary of all the changes in their lives. All concerns about being feral quickly dissipated once they came home with us and were immediately assimilated into our family. We love the idea of adopting siblings-this is our third pair-and actually we find it's easier than having a single because they take comfort in each other and don't feel alone. Bugs was easy-going from the start, a total love bunny, but his brother Chilly was a little unsure and wound tighter, so it took him longer to find his groove. Consistent reassuring with lots of love and attention (and an abundance of kitty treats) has released that sweet boy inside and he has come around nicely, seeking out attention and loving to be touched. We enjoy how often he comes up and 'talks' to us.

Our two female adult cats, CooCoo and Cheeze, which come from similar circumstances, readily accepted the young boys and comforted them with much love. Soon they were all snuggling together, with Cheeze and Chilly in particular becoming very close. It was fun to see how quickly the Boys learned some tricks. In addition to mastering how to 'high five' for treats, every time they were fed, we would whistle a little tune. Soon it became the dinner call and now they all come running whenever they hear it - the Girls too!

Even when the boys are annoying younger brothers to their big sisters, the girls forgive them. They enjoy a very special relationship and often all end up on our bed together in the early morning, or share a communal nap in the afternoon. We are very fortunate to have such a lovely family. They bring so much joy to our lives, never failing to delight and making us smile. We tell them all the time how nice it is that they won the lottery!
