Chip and Dale (formally known as Chris and Pudding) were surrendered to the MSPCA in September 2010 by a family with too many cats. These two (almost twin) brothers were VERY bonded. However, they were not doing well in the shelter environment. MSPCA contacted CRA and asked for help. The boys were moved to a volunteer's holding space and housed in a large dog crate for assessment. In the picture taken when they first came to CRA, you can see them very scared and huddled together.

Over a period of weeks, our volunteer was able to get them to calm down and relax. This is the first step to successful socialization! Once they were calm and relaxed, they were pet daily while they were fed. Pudding was slower to come around and held back on giving over his total love, but we knew it was in there.

After a few more weeks, the kitties were moved to a volunteer's house where they had free roam of a basement area and could get used to being out of a crate. This helped them to get ready for adoption.

Eric and his wife came along and placed an application for the boys. They really wanted to meet them. The boys were very shy at that first meeting, but Eric and his wife were sold on them! They saw the potential for two great pets and were willing to put in some work to help them adjust. They scooped them up and took them home!

Eric states:

We adopted Chip and Dale (new names) in late November from a foster home. They were very under socialized when we visited them at the foster home, but we saw a lot of potential in them and knew they would be great pets. When we brought them home they were shy and hid under our bed for days. Once they knew they were in a loving home, Chip and Dale really warmed up to us and have grown tremendously ever since. It has been 7 months since we adopted the boys and their personalities have fully come out. Chip is the most playful cat we have ever been around; as if he were still a kitten. Dale has become the typical 'lap cat' that loves to lay with you and be pet. They have blossomed into such friendly and loving pets and we cannot imagine life without them.

Another very Happy Ending!!!!
