Teddy
Other Happy Tails
Becky and Ralph
Teddy was born to a feral mom in Somerville. He was one of a litter of five. He and his brother Ty were the last two littermates trapped. The first three kittens were trapped, found to be friendly, and quickly adopted. Teddy and his brother eluded trapping by staying close to mom for a few weeks. Finally, they were trapped together and brought into the care of Charles River Alleycats. By the time they were trapped, they were over three months old and semi-feral. In socializing feral kittens, after eight weeks of age, socialization can take much longer. After the kittens had a visit to the Vet, they were taken into foster care to begin the socialization process.

Dennis and Farrah came to meet Teddy. They had seen Teddy’s Petfinder listing, indicating Teddy needed a special home with someone who could work with a semi-feral kitten. They fell in love with him and took him right home.

Dennis’ first note:
He is adjusting very well. We love him very much. He is being pampered like crazy…He has been very cuddly and purrs like a little motor boat. Thank You again...He has definitely helped to fill the void that was made when our Buddy passed on last month.

When asked to describe meeting Teddy, Farrah wrote,
There is always a sense of fear and excitement when considering an addition of a new member to your household. Many people questioned me when I expressed interest in adopting a feral kitten. With so many cats available, why Teddy? When my husband's long time friend Buddy died, everything seemed a little off. Unsure that he wanted a new pet, I encouraged him to look at kittens that may not be so easily adoptable. Meeting Teddy for the first time, I couldn't see how anyone could resist falling in love with him as he nervously started to purr. Now my favorite part of the day is when I come home to cuddle with him because I know it is his favorite part of the day too.
